Helical Rotor Pumps (also known as Progressive Cavity Pumps) carry fluid by a chamber that axially progresses from the pumps suction to discharge ports. Their main function is to progressively transfer fluids through the pump by transferring fluids through its small cavities to build pressure and improve flow rates. The longer the pump is, the greater the head will be, while ensuring the pressure inside the pump is controlled.
The Rotor is typically Hardened Steel Coated with Chromium. The body of the pump, the Stator, is usually made of an Elastomer, molded to the design and shape of the Rotor.
As Helical Rotor Pumps can handle difficult, thick and solid laden liquids, they can often be used in applications where no other pump would perform. They are frequently used for Industrial Waste Water, Dewatering, Chemical Processing and Animal/Vegetable Oil processing, amongst other applications. Helical Rotor Pumps have the capacity to pump up to 500m+ vertically from pit bottom in Underground Mining Operations.
